Selected by Conde Nast as one of the three most romantic destinations in the world, the island is inhabited only by a maximum of 20 guests and the lodge staff. Baskets of fresh fruit, fish and lobsters are brought under sail on traditional ngalawa outriggers to the island shore, to be prepared as exquisite and exotic delicacies.
Accommodation consists of ten cottages, hand-woven from traditional Zanzibarian palm-matting. Hidden in the shade of Mnemba's tropical beach forest, each banda is completely secluded. A palm-covered walkway leads to an en suite bathroom with shower and basin. Zanzibar is famous for its intricate, detailed woodcarvings and the scrolled headboards adorning the beds are created by some of the Island's most skilled artisans.

Mnemba is a fabulous diving venue with a variety of spectacular dive sites on the surrounding reef. Diving is an included activity, and expert diving instruction is available for beginnners.
Activities include snorkeling, deep sea fishing and boating.
Other pursuits might include wind surfing, swimming in the turquoise waters of the Indian Ocean, bird watching, jogging or walking barefoot around the island, romantic moonlit beach dinners and star gazing. And for those who just want to sit back and relax, a library with a selection of boardgames, books and wildlife videos. |
